My creative space...

In my creative space today, I gathered a few of the personalized items I've been making recently. The customer orders are something that I really enjoy doing especially when they is a name to be embroidered or appliqued.  This bunting was so much fun to make! It's a first bunting I ever made with letters on it. I picked green felt to go in contrast with very Christmasy red fabric and love the way it turned out!

The is a set of mini and large buntings with parents names on large flags and kid's names on mini flags. I think they will look so festive hanging together or on the opposite walls:)

This owl was made with one of my favourite fabrics by Saffron Craig. Beautiful pink with white and red dandelions, this pattern is very easy to embroider on so I didn't have to use linen for the belly. It's so pretty and girly! It's a second personalized owl created with this fabric and I think it will be very popular next year too.

My creative space...

My creative space this week can be easily described in a short sentence: Three owls and a new Christmas decoration!

I cannot wait to see these owls ready! These two are going to be a set for a yet to be born baby and I am loving the colours we've picked. Please, don't mind the mess around them, it's part of the fun;)

Two as a set

Dark navy owl requires a bit more attention today as it still needs eyes to be stitched on so I am concentrating on finishing it today.

Allera is a personalized owl that most likely to be finished today and will go in the post soon. I will miss her though, she is turning out to be a very pretty one.

Owl named Allera

There is also Christmas decoration that just "happened" this morning.... I didn't realized that I had perfect "ingredients" for this Christmas pudding laying around. Like this hand-dyed brown felt which, with it's slightly uneven colour and fluffiness of woolen texture, gives it great cake look.

It will be available in my Madeit shop shortly.

A few items from the new collection....

I've been working on this collection for some time now adding new items that will be included to my list. All of them are going to be themed around creative space....

The first piece of the collection is felt pincushions with owls and handmade buttons.

Felt pincushion

I also made it in lime as this is my favourite felt colour:)

Pincushion in lime

I wanted to style a few pictures with items from my studio. My inspiration board definitely need updating but a few things will still stay like this piece of Far Far Away fabric that still captivate me by it's plum colour....

Styling

I followed some styling tips by Sophie from Her Library adventures and used my white vintage chair and a few vintage spools.

New pincushions will be traveling with me to Mathilda's market this Saturday.

Happy Tuesday!

Oriental cutie

I was surprise to myself when I picked this fabric up at the shop. The vision of the pink owl with this Japanese fabric was very clear in my head so I had to make it!
My Frankie calendar tells me that there are so many things I that need to be doing but I get sidetracked sometimes and this is one of the creations "on a side" of the schedule. So, this Oriental cutie was created last night and she is what I thought she will look like - cute:)

My creative space....

My creative space this week is..... tidy! I spend a good 4 hours yesterday cleaning, going through scraps, reorganising and chucking things out..... Why? I had to take picture of myself, which is already pretty scary, in my creative space!!! Oh, I didn't look forward to that but I did it. I cannot show my picture yet as the interview will come out only in a few weeks but I can show you my space:)

My creative space

clean and tidy

I couldn't resist buying this storage boxes in Typo the other day! They are French themed and SO useful for small things that laying around like threads, buttons, stamps, elastics etc.

new storage boxes

I love that I've got so much more space now! Before you couldn't even see the table, it was all covered with felt fluff and projects in piles.

Love this space

I found stashed away crochet butterflies. I was thinking about using them somewhere but don't have time at the moment so, temporary, they are available in my shop. They will be great for handmade projects for kids.

However, some shelves still need work. My personal stash looks a bit overwhelmed with new fabrics.....

Still need to be tidied up

My little helper can now sit next to me. He is one of those "trial" toys that I make when I create a new design and not all of them end up for sale, some stay here. His name is Monster and he loves this space;)

Aqua and chocolate

As the votes were equally divided on the colour for this owl: 6 votes for orange and 6 for aqua, I picked to make aqua first:) So, here he is little brother for the twins in aqua and chocolate. Hope you like him:)

My creative space....

It feels like I am getting back to the normal blogging routine with My creative space on Thursdays back for another year! I like having themed days and this one with Sunday Stash were my favourite last year. I want to explore more themed days this year and pick one more... Any suggestions?

In my creative space this week, dilemma with felt colour for the owl that matches my brown fabric with elephants is still not solved.... So, a few of my lovely followers gave me some nice colour options here:

yellow
blue/aqua
orange

I put them together with a few other felt squares that might match:

I like these two as I never made aqua or orange owl before:

I heart....

...little owls! I made a few heart brooches during Christmas break. I redesigned my brown owl brooch. I thought it will look very nice in a heart shape and will be perfect as a little Valentine's day gift.

Giveaway winners and brown owl making faux pas

My experiments with colourful owls leaded me to making one in brown. I've started making owls 6-7 month ago and my first four were pink since then I wanted to make one in brown...
I searched for the matching fabric, stitched it, photographed it and then realized, it's missing its feet!!! It happened to me before when I forgot a few tails because they are at the back but feet???!!! Anyway, I have to unstitch it and add feet. I asked her to announce the winners of my Pre-Christmas giveaway, she was a bit embarrassed and I promised that no one will see her belly with no feet;)

Congratulations!

Thank you for leaving your comments! I was so happy to see that so many handmade gifts will be created this Christmas and bring joy to someone!

Have a lovely Wednesday!

My creative space....

In my creative space this week, a few new owls were created. Here is one in a making...

First, there was one on the top of a tower.... I've been using a lovely green fabric with hedgehogs for my lime owls before but I finally found some cute lime green fabric to make them a bit different. It still has little animals so they are in the same *forest* theme.

A few hours later, there were three and it's now called the owl tower:)

I am still experimenting with the colours and this peach/orange one called Rose was created with Far Far Away II linen form my stash.

This is a scrap bundle that I am going to play with later today. I can see blue owl, penguins and, maybe, something new?

Meet Hazelnut!

As soon as the fabric arrived, I knew that I have to drop everything and make an owl.

This is a point where I start seeing his character forming and become very anxious about whether he will look the way I imagined him. But you cannot rush owl making!

....half an hour later..... He turned out to be a lovely little fellow!
Meet Hazelnut - he is a result of an impulse purchase of this cute japanese fabric by Kokka.

How is your Wednesday?

Meet Plummy!

After taking a picture of my Far Far Away II bundle, I couldn't stop myself from making something with it. I love this collection and somehow plum colours of this linen make my heart skip a beat. I am still looking for a few more fabrics from this collection...

Baby owl Sage needed a friend so this is how the decision was made and Plummy was born. I found plum felt that matches perfectly with the roses on gold yellow, don't you think?

She is very friendly and they're already happily playing together.

Plummy is now in the shop and anxiously waiting to meet more friends. You can see more picture of her here.

Meet Sage!

Like Jacque, who already found a new home, Sage is one of a kind little owl.
Somehow, quite late in the evening, felt and fabric found each other and she was born.
I had to stay up late last night to finish her because I just couldn't leave her like this....

Everything about her makes me smile and I am so happy that we've met!

Here is Sage in a day light. Love this colour:)

Happy Tuesday!

Shop update...

I've been one busy Plushka listing new items and making a few more owls for my Madeit shop.

The little blue one is waiting to be stitched and he will be ready to go in the shop too.
However, I cannot decide on the fabric...or, maybe, I should make 2 owls....

Which one do you like the most?
