My creative space...

In my creative space today, I gathered a few of the personalized items I've been making recently. The customer orders are something that I really enjoy doing especially when they is a name to be embroidered or appliqued.  This bunting was so much fun to make! It's a first bunting I ever made with letters on it. I picked green felt to go in contrast with very Christmasy red fabric and love the way it turned out!

The is a set of mini and large buntings with parents names on large flags and kid's names on mini flags. I think they will look so festive hanging together or on the opposite walls:) 

This owl was made with one of my favourite fabrics by Saffron Craig. Beautiful pink with white and red dandelions, this pattern is very easy to embroider on so I didn't have to use linen for the belly. It's so pretty and girly! It's a second personalized owl created with this fabric and I think it will be very popular next year too.

progress in "baby steps"

Sometimes, when there are countless projects going on at the same time, there is nothing better then stopping for a moment to reflect on what is done and what is still on that list...

It helps me to stay motivated:) 

So, when I feel like nothing get's done here, I start taking pictures!

Owls in progress - bellies and eyes stitched on, feet next.

Christmas flags for the bunting are ironed but need more bias.

One cross-stitched hedgehog notebook is done and listed in the shop.

Hmmm, not too bad... Moving towards wholesale order and Christmas collection completion deadlines in "baby steps" but steady!

*looking after little Easter chicks that just hatched and still love staying close to each other in order to stay safe;) Probably penguins confuse them a little bit.... They do have wings but they don't fly??!!

My creative space....

In my creative space this week, everything is happening very slowly. I feel better (thank you for all your lovely comments), but still try to rest a bit more. Last night I made flags for the bunting to go with that bias.

I really like colours of this "Happy Nursery" organic fabric by Cloud9.

It took me a long time to match these fabrics together. Looking at the picture now, they seem like an obvious choice but I only recently got the flowery fabric out and realized it:)

Pretty packaging

On this rainy day (it's very wet and miserable in Sydney), I am wrapping up gifts and parcels. I've got a weakness for the brown paper and cute packaging which I purchase regularly and in the large quantities. Although it not always cost effective, I love sharing prettiness...

These are my Christmas hair ties and clips, packed in a brown doily bags, they are on their way to the Shop Handmade in Canberra.

When I started making bunting, I wasn't sure how to package it so the packaging gives a good idea of the flag's colours and looks pretty. This is what I came up with:

Bunting making...

That's what I was up to last night. Made a few Christmas buntings from the cute fabric by Riley Blake.

It's always hard to cut my favorite fabric and very sad to see what's left!

I still need to finish one more mini bunting. Mini flags are done...

.....only bias left!

My creative space....

In my creative space this week, I am finishing those buntings from last week's creative space and making a few new ones....

I was lucky that I found matching fabrics to the little mushrooms almost straight away. Apparently, not every red fabric with polka dots was matching and only a certain shade of red looked right.

My first bunting for boys.

Making bunting means making bias tape. My first bias set looked very girly but this week I made a few boy ones.

I am also on the finishing stage with my crochet blankets. Pink one on the bottom (called "Marshmallow") is done, red ("Strawberry") and green ("Green hills") still need a few more rows and two top ones ("Sunny day" and "Dandelion") need a "tidy up" at the back!

Big bunting, little bunting!

I've been busy making up yet another parcel to send to Canberra. This time I am working on the bunting.

I love making small things and matching things so I made a

mini bunting that can go together with the big one or just by itself.

Bunting finished...FINALLY!

This project took me ages to finish! Mainly because it's my first time making those triangle flags that are a bit tricky.... I had to unstitch them a few times to get it right but I got there in the end and that's what matters, isn't it?

Then, I looked at my finished bunting and thought:

"So, how do I photograph my creation?".

I've used my dark grey feature wall as a background,

folded it, unfolded it....

In the end, it needed another iron and I wasn't very happy with the pictures.

To sum up, I need more practice sewing bunting and certainly more photographing it!
