Saturday crafternoon: fox, pincushion and other creations

Today is my first day at the studio full-time this year and I am making the most of it! Although there are  many things on my list that need to be done sooner then later, I am still in my holiday mode - creating whatever I feel like. First from the production line is a fox that I cut out in my creative space before Christmas. Unfortunately, I had some technical issues with the grey one so I finished orange one first. You can see I am still using that method that I told you about in my tips for creating with felt post, and so far it works beautifully.

she is finished!

She is lovely, isn't she? The fabric used on this fox is organic from "Forest friends" collection by Rebekah Ginda. It is very nice to work with and I made sure I fit as many cute animals as I can, placing a little fox in the heart shape.

After finishing a large toy, I usually feel like making a few smaller creations. I completely sold out of apple hair clips during Christmas so I am making more for the shop and experimenting with new colours too. These purple ones are a new colour addition and featuring another lovely Liberty of London print from my stash.

Pincushions are always fun to make. I am in the process of re-designing them for my Valentine's day collection so stay tuned for more of them turning up in my creative space next week...

Happy Saturday!

My creative space....

In my creative space this week, a few new fabrics arrived for the frogs and I cannot wait to make them! Hopefully, the slightly bigger pattern will work for their little bellies.

Also, I am making more pincushions for the shop. I made them a bit different this time from the original ones. It seamed that the circle won't compliment the flowery pattern of the Liberty fabric... I think this shape looks nice.. What do you think?

My Place and Yours - My Pin Cushion

This pincushion has been helping me to create for 3 years now... Made by my mum, from plastic jar lid and the strawberry embroidery that I cross-stitched more then 10 years ago!

My Pin Cushion

It's very sweet and makes me smile every time I look at it:)
I love it so much!

Orange & Hot pink

2 pincushions

New fabric aways brings new possibilities and inspires to experiment with colour! The bold colour combinations  of the "Hale I heart" collection are just beautiful and I love Rashida Coleman's robot drawings, so cute!

Pincushions and sewing machine

Every time someone asks me, what inspires me the most, my answer is - fabric!
The pattern dictates the style, colours can be supported by the felt or felt can be a contrasting background. The possibilities are endless:)
This time I went with matching felt colour to the orange on the robot but took contrasting hot pink thread. A little risky as if the stitching is uneven, it has to be restitched (and not once) but it's worth it!

Bright and happy with cutest robots ever, this pincushions will look stunning in any craft room!

Pincushions are available in my Madeit shop.

A few items from the new collection....

I've been working on this collection for some time now adding new items that will be included to my list. All of them are going to be themed around creative space....

The first piece of the collection is felt pincushions with owls and handmade buttons.

Felt pincushion

I also made it in lime as this is my favourite felt colour:)

I wanted to style a few pictures with items from my studio. My inspiration board definitely need updating but a few things will still stay like this piece of Far Far Away fabric that still captivate me by it's plum colour....

Styling

I followed some styling tips by Sophie from Her Library adventures and used my white vintage chair and a few vintage spools.

New pincushions will be traveling with me to Mathilda's market this Saturday.

Happy Tuesday!

Cupcake mould into pincushion...

I love pincushions and have at least five of them around the living room. My first effort to make a pincushion from the cupcake mould wasn't that successful....

Pincushion

So, I put it away and it waited until I decide to give it another go and so I did (much later then I thought). I took a smaller mould as I blamed my failed effort on the mould for being too high;) I took fabric with cute forest animals, ribbon and linen by Yardage design and this is what I came up with:

Pincushion with a squirrel

with a little deer

.......and I had to make a French themed one, of cause!
