Crochet and fabric duo

Last night, I finally got some time for my crochet baskets. These new arrivals are long overdue but it's better to make it right and I never start on the baskets in a rush. They need time and, sometimes, a broken needle but I am so happy with the result! 

One is "Plushka's classic":  linen with agapantus fabric by Yardage design.

This light pink one is a new colour in this collection, decorated with Japanese sewing goat fabric that I just love.

My creative space....

In my creative space, when I don't feel like sewing and I need a fresh breeze of inspiration, I get my camera out. Crochet is so enjoyable to photograph with it's own challenges that take my mind of things and get me creating again. I found a few great pictures of crochet beads here and tried to make a few myself with a little skill I've got:)

Taking pictures did help! I felt a bit more relaxed after a few hectic days.....

I stated with these soon to be hair ties in bright French colours.

A few tea pot coasters are getting a makeover with the Yardage design fabrics.

Cupcake mould into pincushion...

I love pincushions and have at least five of them around the living room. My first effort to make a pincushion from the cupcake mould wasn't that successful....

So, I put it away and it waited until I decide to give it another go and so I did (much later then I thought). I took a smaller mould as I blamed my failed effort on the mould for being too high;) I took fabric with cute forest animals, ribbon and linen by Yardage design and this is what I came up with:

.......and I had to make a French themed one, of cause!

Sunday Stash....PINK!

My stash get more and more different colours with every fabric delivery... I should say, red is totally my colour! Pink? It's growing on me....slowly...

This my last purchase of Flower Sugar 2 in 2010. As soon as it was delivered, it was hard not to take a picture. So colourful and bright, this fabric is perfect for the summer projects.

On the pink note, I thought why not make my crochet baskets colourful?! I do try to be brave with the colour and this time I went for the hot pink!

I should say, making one with linen was easy but then I attempted to use linen with Russian dolls.....

Do you like pink?

Present wrapping and new baskets

Inspired by the Nic's gift wrapping idea, I've used her tea towel to decorate a Christmas gift for our friends.

I didn't want to leave the lovely packaging behind so I cut a little tags out, this way the packaging gets recycled and washing instructions are easy to keep in the draw for the reference!

I also made a few new baskets with handprinted linen from Yardage design.

Agapanthus basket

Last night I've finished one of the baskets that I was working on in my creative space. It's one of my favourite at the moment along with the sewing goat that I just adore!

I am at work all day today crunching numbers... I am really looking forward getting home tonight to I finish off a few more project that were left half stitched after last night's crafty hour...

My creative space...

In my creative space, there are a few things to show you this week! I've started decorating two crochet baskets. The first one with my favourite grey fabric from my stash...

For the second one, I finally found a perfect, in my opinion, Liberty fabric to match a gorgeous handprinted fabric by Yardage design. I love this print that is called "Agapanthus". I was thinking about matching it with a green boarder but this pink fabric has a very nice natural pattern that compliments the little agapanthus print. Don't you think?

I've also done some crochet, inspired by the Japanese knitting book that I bought hoping to improve my knitting skills one day. I was inspired by the Nordic colours which are also very French. Since I had a great matching cotton yarn in the stash, I started another project.....

Those crochet flowers are waiting to become brooches but, for know, they are just a pretty pile to photograph!
