The Simple Things, new in my magazines collection

While we were in London, I was so lucky to snap the first issue of the brand new magazine - The Simple Things. It's a sister magazine to the Mollie Makes and has a similar "feel" to it's context celebrating the creative leaving, growing and eating your own veggies and enjoying what you have.
We can all do with slowing down and enjoying the moment nowadays so why not start small with a cup of tea and a good read!
Would you like a little peek inside? The click HERE and if you like what you see, go to their website for more previews and inspirations.

What is your favourite magazine at the moment?

Saturday crafternoon and winter salad

Country style, autumn issue
This morning, when I went to get a new issue of the Country Style and some fresh bread,  it felt like autumn is finally here! The air was fresh and cool but the sun still warm...
It's truly my favourite season!
Isn't the cover of this issue stunning?! I am looking forward to reading it this afternoon and doing some cross-stitch. The penguins are multiplying on my table in different colours!

Cooler weather also means a change of the meals in our home with more soups, stews and yummy Russian winter salad back on our menu!  This salad is perfect as a side dish or by itself. We make it vegetarian but, traditionally, it's made with boiled chicken or sausage.

winter salad

You will need the following ingredients (serves 4):
2 medium sized potatoes (cooked in skin then peeled and diced)
3 medium sized gherkins diced
4 eggs hard-boiled and diced
200g tined pees
4-5 tablespoons of mayonnaise

Optional:
200g boiled sausage or chicken meat
cut an onion and keep it in separate container to add before serving
shopped dill

Mix all ingredients together and enjoy!

Hope you are having a relaxing Saturday!

It's the end of the month which, in Plushka's HQ, means that a beautiful issue of Mollie Makes will land in my mail box any day! Checking mail getting more exciting when the end of the month approaching and I know I need to allow an hour in my day to curl up on a couch and read it from cover to cover!

This issue is just ADORABLE! So many cute projects and interesting article like an interview with textile artist Teena Vallerine and a Holland's top designer Eline Pellinkhof!

Monday, happy mail day!

Don't you love it when in the beginning of the week, something lovely lands in your mail box?! It set the mood for a week and gives something to read/smile at/cuddle/create from during the week.
My happy mail today included new issue of the Mollie Makes magazine!

Mollie makes, issue 5

Yes, it did cost me a little fortune to subscribe and I still need to hunt down first 4 issues while in UK....but I absolutely love this magazine with minimum advertisement and so many inspiring projects:)

Friday Afternoon

Country Style, Spring
I took a little break from cooking, laundry, stitching rabbits...
to enjoy flipping through pages of the new Spring issue of Country Style magazine. It is full of stunning pictures, as usual, and very interesting articles about australian artists and their homes. I think it's time to spend a few hours with my journal, arranging Spring pages using pictures from this issue.
yummy fruit balls
Besides something good to read, a short afternoon break at Plushka's HQ means a cup of Chai tea and something sweet. Today, I am having a few yummy fruit balls (click for the recipe here).

New labels

I am also admiring my new labels that just arrived in the post. Not sure yet whether I will use them on all my creations or not but I absolutely love the colours and quality (Labels made by Bags&Tags).
The little makeup purse on the background came free with the magazine and it's just so pretty! What a lovely bonus:)

Collecting inspirations....

for the journal

Having some free time this long weekend, I took my journal out  and went through some recent magazines I've purchased. Discovering, admiring and reading about new things and places is my second favourite way to spend a quite afternoon after craft.

vintage theme

When all things that inspire me are cut out, it's time to sort them out by theme. These time there are a few themes that are evolving so far: vintage, books and sewing.

journal pages

I will share a few finished pages with you next week.

I use just a drawing book for my journal but I found these recycled scrap notebook DIY project over at Design*Sponge that looks very tempting and what is the best way for creating a special journal if not making it yourself?!

Happy Saturday!

New cross-stitched items

My cross-stitched collection is slowly coming together.... I love notebook covers and made a few with the same hedgehog embroidery that I used for the keyrings. They actually make a nice set.

lovely set

I used ribbon, lace and little bow bronze charm that you can find in my shop.

Hedgehog went to the forest to collect mushrooms and found a juicy green apple and I thought his little story will make a nice embroidery;)

Mushrooms and hedgehog

Today, I am making a few more keyrings in different colours. That's how they look from the back. All my lovely linen scraps found their purpose and I am very happy about it!

I also found a few projects I want to make in the new Cotton Time issue. I am thinking that this top will look nice on me....

Singlet project in Cotton Time

Cotton Time always inspires me and there are so many projects to try. These felt Russian dolls on the cover look are so cute! There are instructions on how to make a set of 5. A few issues of this magazine are available in my shop if you want to make them;)

"Spaces"

I love weekends for the buzzing streets of Bondi, smell of coffee, fresh bread that I buy every Saturday and my newspaper/magazine time in the morning. This Saturday I picked up "Spaces" by Frankie magazine. I don't aim to write a review, I just want to show you a sneak pick and share the feeling of inspiration when you flip the pages of this amazing magazine. It's quite thick, coffee table size publication and looks to me more like a book. That's why it will take a proud place on my coffee table.

I can honestly say - I went around the world today, visiting spaces where people create, live and relax. It was very hard to choose any particular page as they are all stunning! There are so many details that I can look at one page all day and still find something that I've missed.
"Spaces" I'll be back next Saturday for another trip!

Enjoy your Saturday!

Journal pages...

My journal is a big part of me, it contains all things that I love, dream about, places I travel too in my mind when I look at the beautiful pictures..... I love picking pictures from my favourite magazines like Frankie, Country style, Notebook magazine..... to create colorful collage pages of my journal......

I leave some space that later will be filled with my thoughts, quotes and sometimes even housekeeping tips.....

Do you keep a journal? If you do, there is one blog that I would definitely recommend you visiting: The journal keepers. Enjoy!
