Rainy day blog find

It's very wet in Sydney and I had no intentions to spend too much time outside so my plan was: to do some embroidery and blogs browsing. I love finding new interesting blogs and, on my last trip around Blogland, I found the blog of Ingela P Arrhenious, Sweden-based illustrator who's cute drawings and painted wooden blogs just won my heart.

Hope you had a lovely day and saw a few things that made you smile!

le coq gaulois (The Gallic rooster) embroidery, Day 5

picture from the Bienvenue dans mon atelier blog.

There is something about this embroidery. I find that Rooster kitchen decor really does evoke feelings of comfort, simplicity, and the warmth of French country living. The rooster is an icon that adds charm and beauty anywhere in the home, especially in the kitchen. During the Middle Ages, the Gallic Rooster was used as a religious symbol that stood for hope and faith. Read more about french traditional Rooster decoration here.

I found 2,900 rooster decorations on etsy and 75 of them were embroidery! I do not really know yet what to do with my embroidery so I was looking for ideas. It was interesting to see the different ways rooster embroidery was used in the home decoration.

at work all day, Day 4

It’s already after nine and I just realised I lost an hour with the daylight saving... I am enjoying the cooler weather as I know what summer can be like here – too hot for me.
Today was another rather uneventful day, and in between my work I…

1. Was looking on the rain pouring down on our new car and I felt sorry for the effort the guys done at the local car wash.

2. Thinking about my next project that will be a French style embroidery and other countless charts that I really want to do...

3. Looked at the other blogs that are participating in the Blogtober. They are all doing so well! Just look at this one. It’s just amazing how much effort went into doing this tutorial!

Will you just look at these owls?! They are so cute!

4. Planning my three days off: one for supplies shopping, second for the family, third for sewing and embroidery (do not know if I can fit cleaning into my busy schedule! hmmmm)

I hope your day has been more productive but a relaxing one. I'm off to spend the rest of the evening with cross-stitching and re-organising my fabric. You never know, I might find something long forgotten that will give me an idea for a new exciting project.

~Inspiration required~

When you are in the middle of the project, sometimes you just need something to inspire you... Here are just some of the things that are helping me to be creative tonight.

1. Flowers

2. Country style furniture (it has this lovely rusty look)

I found this delightful pictures at the gorgeous blog Shannon Fricke.
