Fellow Madeit sellers who blog - Melinda's Creative Wishes

I love inviting guests over to Plushka's blog so one or two Monday/s in a month, I will be having a chat and a "cup of tea" with fellow Madeit designers who blog:)
This month, please, welcome Melinda from Creative Wishes!

1. Why have you decided to start your blog?
I decided to start Melindas Creative Wishes blog as a means of sharing and showcasing my handmade items.
2. Is there a story behind the name of your blog?
Yes it all started with the humble dandelion.  To some dandelions are just humble weeds or herbs. But as kids my sisters and I would always pick a dandelion, blow and make a wish. Now my kids do the same.  My youngest munchkin can’t go past a dandelion without picking one, blowing and making a wish or picking a few and presenting them to me as if they are a bunch of fragrant red roses.   So the Melindas Creative Wishes is my first name, my sharing of handmade with a little magic from the dandelion wishes.
3. Have your blogging style changed since you've started back in 2008?
Yes, I use my blog much more now to show and promote my handmade items.  I also love to show off others wonderful handmade items too.
I am still a little haphazard with my blogging and often my blog gets a little neglected depending how busy my life gets.
I also like to share a little about myself now and then too and my other loves including gardening and cooking.
4. Do you think blogs are moving to the second place now since Facebook business/social pages are becoming more popular? As we share the news and new projects on our Facebook pages first, do you feel like it's trickier to blog now and find ideas to write about?
Yes, I definitely think blogs are taking second place to facebook, twitter etc.  but I think blogs are much more fun to read and show the character of the blogger much better.  Facebook and especially twitter gives us a little taste and is great for quick one sentence comments.  I think there will be a move back to blogs just because they are a little more personalised.
5. Do you have a blogging routine or any themes that you join?
No, I don’t have a routine.  I am not terribly good at keeping to any routine –fitness, eating, sleeping .. and definitely not blogging. I guess I am more of a spontaneous person so I don’t do routine very well.   I usually think, oh, I haven’t blogged for a while I will go off and do that.  Sometimes I will blog 3 times in the one week and other times there will be big break between blog posts  If I come across some lovely handmade item I want to share or  have a new item for my shop I will blog.
The only theme I follow is Our Creative Space on Thursdays but not every Thursday.
6. What are your 5 most favourite blogs to visit and why?
I am a bit of a blog peruser but there are a few blogs I check back on frequently.
Meet Me at Mikes – lovely writing and lovely crafts.
Posie Gets Cosy – love the gardening and cooking and crafts and the gorgeous photos.
Handmade Kids Coop – Because I am a member and I love seeing what  others in Australia are making and creating, especially the gorgeous childrens clothes.
Frolic blog  - for the inspiration, great photos and lovely things.
Cuteable because of all  the cute and adorable things shared there.

7. Any tips for the bloggers who just started?
Make it your own by blogging about what ever you wish.
There really are no rules other than to be nice.
Have fun with it and let your personality show through.
Don’t worry about having to blog, blog when you have something to say or to share and not because you think you must.

Thank you Melinda for visiting!
